Roseanne Park<\/b>\u00a0(born 11 February 1997), known mononymously as\u00a0Ros\u00e9<\/b>\u00a0(Korean<\/a>:\u00a0\ub85c\uc81c<\/span><\/span>), is a Korean-New Zealand singer and dancer[3]<\/a><\/sup>[4]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0based in South Korea.[1]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0Born in New Zealand and raised in Australia, Ros\u00e9 signed with South Korean label\u00a0YG Entertainment<\/a>\u00a0following a successful audition in 2012 and trained for four years before debuting as a member of the girl group\u00a0Blackpink<\/a>\u00a0in August 2016.<\/p>\n

In March 2021, Ros\u00e9 made her solo debut with her\u00a0single album<\/a>\u00a0R<\/a><\/i>. The album sold 448,089 copies in its first week, the highest for a Korean female soloist. Lead single \"On the Ground<\/a>\" was also a commercial success, topping the\u00a0Billboard<\/i>\u00a0Global 200<\/a>\u00a0and peaking in the top five domestically.<\/p>\n

Roseanne Park (Korean<\/a>:\u00a0\ubc15\ucc44\uc601<\/span><\/span>;\u00a0Park Chae-young<\/i>) was born on 11 February 1997[5]<\/a><\/sup>[6]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0in\u00a0Auckland<\/a>,\u00a0New Zealand<\/a>, to\u00a0South Korean<\/a>\u00a0immigrant parents.[7]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0She has an older sister. In 2004, at the age of seven, Ros\u00e9 and her family moved to\u00a0Melbourne<\/a>,\u00a0Australia<\/a>.[8]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0She attended Kew East Primary School, graduating in 2009, and completed secondary education at\u00a0Canterbury Girls' Secondary College<\/a>\u00a0in Melbourne, studying law.[4]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0She began singing and learned to play guitar and piano as a child and performed in church choirs.[8]<\/a><\/sup>[4]<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n

In 2012, at age 15, Ros\u00e9 attended an audition in\u00a0Sydney<\/a>, Australia for South Korean record label\u00a0YG Entertainment<\/a>\u00a0at her father's suggestion,[8]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0ranking first among 700 participants.[9]<\/a><\/sup>[10]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0She enjoyed the label's music greatly, citing they had all the \"cool\" groups.[11]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0Within two months, Ros\u00e9 dropped out of school, signed with the label as a trainee, and moved to\u00a0Seoul<\/a>,\u00a0South Korea<\/a>.[4]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0She initially presumed her father's idea was a joke due to the distance and difficulty of becoming a singer overseas, stating:<\/p>\n

In Australia, I didn't think that there was much of a chance for me to become a singer, especially to become a K-pop star... I was living so far from the country that it never really occurred to me as a possibility.[8]<\/a><\/sup><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The same year, Ros\u00e9 was given an opportunity to feature on labelmate\u00a0G-Dragon<\/a>'s song \"Without You\" from his\u00a0extended play<\/a>\u00a0(EP)\u00a0One of a Kind<\/a><\/i>\u00a0(2012).
