          Nikita Dragun<\/h1>\n

          Nikita Nguyen<\/b>\u00a0(born January 31, 1996)[1]<\/a><\/sup>[3]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0known professionally as\u00a0Nikita Dragun<\/b>, is an American\u00a0YouTuber<\/a>,\u00a0make-up artist<\/a>, and model.[4]<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n

          Early life<\/span><\/h2>\n

          Nikita Dragun was born in\u00a0Belgium<\/a>\u00a0and attended high school in\u00a0Virginia<\/a>. She is of\u00a0Vietnamese<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Mexican<\/a>\u00a0descent, and came out as a\u00a0trans woman<\/a>\u00a0when she was a teenager. In several of Dragun's\u00a0YouTube<\/a>\u00a0videos, she has spoken openly about her transition.[5]<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n

          Later, Dragun decided to move to Los Angeles, and got accepted to the\u00a0Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising<\/a>, where she obtained her business degree. She said, \u201cI was very\u00a0Hannah Montana<\/a>\u00a0at the time. I would be in class, and we\u2019d talk about influencers and brand deals, and my face would pop up on the screen and they\u2019d start talking about me! They had no idea that I was sitting in the class. I never wanted anyone to know.\u201d[6]<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n

          Career<\/span><\/h2>\n

          Dragun joined YouTube in February 2013. She stated, \u201cI started to get little brand deals around that time\u2026<\/i>\u00a0That was also when I decided to start taking Instagram and YouTube seriously.\u201d In 2015, by which time she was living in\u00a0Los Angeles<\/a>, she came out as a\u00a0transgender<\/a>\u00a0woman.[4]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0As of May 2021, she has over 3.68 million subscribers on YouTube, 9.1 million followers on Instagram, and 13.6 million followers on TikTok.[7]<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n

          In response to comments by\u00a0L Brands<\/a>\u00a0chief marketing officer\u00a0Ed Razek<\/a>\u00a0that trans women should not be included in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show because \"the show is a fantasy\", Dragun tweeted a video of herself modeling lingerie. In the tweet, Dragun argues that trans women were indeed able to convey fantasy.[8]<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n

          In March 2019, she announced a make-up line, Dragun Beauty.[9]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0Aside from the mainstream market, the cosmetic line is also targeted towards the\u00a0transgender community<\/a>. All products are vegan and cruelty-free, this is cited as a reason why Nikita decided to launch her brand independently.[10]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0In June 2019, Dragun was interviewed about her make-up brand on the LGBT radio network\u00a0Channel Q<\/a>, where she credited her journey as a transgender woman building her brand as the inspiration behind Dragun Beauty and its products.[11]<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n

          In September 2019, it was announced Nikita would be starring in her own docuseries on\u00a0Snapchat<\/a>, \"Nikita Unfiltered\". The series follows Dragun as she searches for love, \"a different path\" in her career, and navigates fame as a trans woman. The series premiered on 21 March 2020.[12]<\/a><\/sup>[13]<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n

          Controversies<\/span><\/h2>\n

          On July 21, 2020, Dragun held a surprise birthday party for YouTuber\u00a0Larri Merritt<\/a>\u00a0during the\u00a0COVID-19 pandemic<\/a>\u00a0at the\u00a0Hype House<\/a>\u00a0mansion.[14]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0The party included\u00a0internet celebrities<\/a>\u00a0such as\u00a0James Charles<\/a>,\u00a0Charli D'Amelio<\/a>,\u00a0Dixie D'Amelio<\/a>, and others.[15]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0At the time of the party,\u00a0California's COVID-19 cases<\/a>\u00a0had just surpassed\u00a0New York's cases<\/a>.[16]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0There was an estimated 67 people in attendance,[17]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0many of whom were seen\u00a0without face masks<\/a>[15]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0despite local health recommendations.[18]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0Photos and videos of the event appeared on social media sites such as\u00a0Instagram<\/a>.
