Plot

In 1988, teenager Maren Yearly partially eats her friend's ring finger at a sleepover. Her beleaguered single father Frank, used to her cannibalistic nature since she murdered her babysitter at three years old, promptly relocates them and abandons her shortly after her 18th birthday, leaving behind a message where he hopes for her to overcome her hunger. Deciding she wants to find her long-absent mother Janelle, Maren sets out for Minnesota.

She runs into the eccentric Sully, who explains he is a fellow "eater", their people can identify each other by scent, and that it is part of their code to never eat each other. He leads her to the house of a dying, elderly woman and begins to feed, though a horrified Maren refuses to eat. The woman dies the next day and Maren reluctantly joins him in eating the corpse, after which he shows her a rope made from the hair of his victims. Unsettled by his growing obsession with her, she flees and continues her travels.

While shoplifting in Indiana, both she and a young man named Lee try to stop a drunk customer from harassing a woman. She later finds Lee having eaten the man, and they steal the man's truck. Lee joins her on her trip and they begin a relationship. They stop in his hometown in Kentucky, where he refuses to discuss his past and they meet his sister Kayla. They meet a pair of eaters, where one discusses how he ate a victim "bones and all" by eating them in their entirety, and the other admits he is an eater by choice rather than out of necessity, disgusting Lee and Maren. Lee seduces and kills an amusement park employee because he believes he has no family, but Maren is horrified to discover that he does.

Maren tracks down Janelle's mother as they arrive in Minnesota, who informs her that Janelle was adopted after being found abandoned and had willingly committed herself to a psychiatric hospital. Maren visits her to find that she has eaten her own hands. A nurse gives Maren a letter from Janelle, who proclaims they are better off dead than living as monsters. Janelle tries to eat Maren before being restrained. A traumatized Maren abandons Lee and is found by Sully, who she again rejects, causing him to grow violent.

Lee returns home and Maren eventually follows him there, where Kayla explains to her that Lee killed their abusive father. She and Lee rekindle their relationship, and he admits that he ate his father after he tried to eat him first, disgusted by the fact that he enjoyed doing so. They agree to live normal lives and move to Michigan. After some time, Maren comes home to find Sully in their apartment, who holds her at knifepoint. Lee returns and they kill Sully, but Lee is mortally stabbed in the process as Maren finds Kayla's hair in the hair rope. Lee pleads for Maren to eat him "bones and all", which she reluctantly does.

Plot

In 1868, Jo March works as a teacher in New York City. Mr. Dashwood, an editor, has agreed to publish her short story. Meanwhile, her youngest sister, Amy, who is in Paris with their Aunt March, attends a party with the Marches’ childhood friend and neighbor, Laurie. Amy becomes angry at Laurie's drunken behavior, prompting him to mock her for spending time with wealthy businessman Fred Vaughn. Jo is hurt and angry when Friedrich Bhaer, a German professor who lives at her boarding house, gives critical feedback on her writing. Upon learning that her younger sister Beth's illness has worsened, Jo returns home to Concord, Massachusetts.

Seven years earlier in 1861, Jo meets her neighbor Laurie while attending a party with her older sister, Meg. On Christmas morning, the girls' mother, "Marmee," persuades them to give their breakfast to their poor neighbors, Mrs. Hummel and her children. After returning home, they find their table laden with food, given by their neighbor and Laurie's grandfather, Mr. Laurence. Marmee then reads a letter from their father, who is fighting in the American Civil War. Jo regularly reads to her father's sister, Aunt March, hoping Aunt March will invite her to Europe.

When Jo, Meg, Laurie, and Laurie's tutor, John Brooke, attend the theater, a jealous Amy burns Jo's unpublished novel. The next morning, Amy, wanting an angry Jo's forgiveness, chases her and Laurie onto a frozen lake. Amy falls through the ice but Laurie and Jo save her. Mr. Laurence invites Beth to play his late daughter's piano in his house.

In the present, Meg expresses unhappiness about being poor to John after buying fabric they cannot afford. Laurie visits Amy to apologize for his behavior, urging her not to marry Fred but instead marry him. Though in love with Laurie, Amy refuses, upset at always being second to Jo. Despite this, she turns down Fred's proposal.

In the past, Mr. Laurence gifts Beth the piano and discovers she has contracted scarlet fever from the Hummels. To avoid exposure to the illness, Amy is sent to stay with Aunt March, who advises her to provide for her family by marrying well. John urges Meg to turn the fabric into a dress in the present to make her happy, but she reveals she sold it and reassures him she is happy as his wife. Beth recovers in time for Christmas in the past, and their father returns home as well. After worsening in the present, Beth dies. On Meg's wedding day in the past, Jo tries to convince her to run away, but Meg expresses her elation to marry John. Aunt March announces her European trip, taking Amy instead of Jo. After the wedding, Laurie proposes to Jo, who refuses, explaining she does not see herself married.

In the present, Marmee reveals Amy is returning from Europe with an ill Aunt March. Jo wonders whether she was too quick to refuse Laurie and writes him a letter. Preparing to leave, Amy tells Laurie she turned down Fred's proposal; they kiss and later marry on the journey home. Jo and Laurie agree to remain friends, after which she discards the letter she wrote him. Jo begins writing a novel based on her and her sisters' lives and sends the first chapters to an unimpressed Mr. Dashwood. Bhaer surprises Jo by turning up at the March house on his way to California.

In New York, Mr. Dashwood agrees to publish Jo's novel after his daughters demand to know how it ends, but he refuses to accept the protagonist remaining unmarried at the end. To appease him, Jo ends her novel with the protagonist, herself, stopping Bhaer from leaving for California. She successfully negotiates copyright and royalties with Mr. Dashwood. Following Aunt March's death, Jo inherits her house and opens it as a school, where Meg, Amy, John, and Bhaer all teach. Jo observes the printing of her novel, titled Little Women.

Timothee Chalamet at Call Me By Your Name

Call Me by Your Name (Italian: Chiamami col tuo nome) is a 2017 coming-of-age romantic drama film directed by Luca Guadagnino. Its screenplay, by James Ivory, who also co-produced, is based on the 2007 novel by André Aciman. The film is the final installment in Guadagnino's thematic "Desire" trilogy, after I Am Love (2009) and A Bigger Splash (2015). Set in northern Italy in 1983, Call Me by Your Name chronicles the romantic relationship between 17-year-old Elio Perlman (Timothée Chalamet) and Oliver (Armie Hammer), a 24-year-old graduate-student assistant to Elio's father Samuel (Michael Stuhlbarg), an archaeology professor. The film also stars Amira CasarEsther Garrel, and Victoire Du Bois.

Plot

In the summer of 1983, Elio Perlman, a 17-year-old Jewish French-Italian boy, lives with his parents in rural Northern Italy. Elio's father, a professor of archaeology, invites a 24-year-old Jewish-American graduate student, Oliver, to live with the family over the summer and help with his academic paperwork. Elio, an introspective bookworm and musician, initially thinks he has little in common with Oliver, who appears confident and carefree. Elio spends much of the summer reading, playing piano, and hanging out with his childhood friends, Chiara and Marzia. During a volleyball match, Oliver touches Elio's back, but Elio brushes it off. Elio later finds himself jealous upon seeing Oliver kiss Chiara.

Elio and Oliver spend more time together, taking long walks into town, and accompanying Elio's father on an archaeological trip. Elio is increasingly drawn to Oliver, even sneaking into Oliver's room to smell his clothing. Elio eventually confesses his feelings to Oliver, who tells him they cannot discuss such things. Later, in a secluded spot, the two kiss for the first time. Oliver is reluctant to take things further, and they do not speak for several days.

Elio goes on a date with Marzia and the two have sex. Elio leaves a note for Oliver to end their silence. Oliver writes back, asking Elio to meet him at midnight. Elio agrees and they sleep together for the first time. Afterward, Oliver tells Elio, "Call me by your name and I'll call you by mine". The morning after, Elio is briefly conflicted about their encounter and takes out his sexual frustration by masturbating with a peach. When Oliver finds him, Elio cries about how little time he and Oliver have left together. Marzia confronts Elio after not hearing from him for three days. He responds indifferently, hurting her.

As the end of Oliver's stay approaches, Elio's parents, who appear aware of the bond between the two, recommend that he and Oliver visit Bergamo together before Oliver returns to the U.S. They spend three romantic days together. Heartbroken after Oliver's departure, Elio calls his mother to ask her to pick him up from the train station and take him home. Marzia is sympathetic to Elio's feelings and says she wants to remain friends. Elio's father, observing his unhappiness, tells him that the bond he had with Oliver was rare and that he envies Elio because he never had what Elio and Oliver had.

During Hanukkah, Oliver calls Elio's family to tell them he is engaged to be married to a woman he has been intermittently dating for a few years. Elio calls Oliver by his name and Oliver responds with his; Oliver says he remembers "everything". After the call, Elio sits by the fireplace and stares into the flames, tearfully reflecting, as his parents and staff prepare dinner.
