Past Continuous

Χρησιμοποιούμε τον Past Continuous όταν:

1. Μία πράξη γινόταν σε συγκεκριμένη στιγμή I was eating at 3 o'clock.

2. Δύο πράξεις γίνονταν παράλληλα την ίδια στιγμή στο παρελθόν. While I was sleeping, my brother was playing the drums. =

3. Μία μεγάλη σε διάρκεια πράξη γινόταν στο παρελθόν - και τη διέκοψε μία μικρής διάρκειας πράξη (Past Simple)| (+)

While we were watching TV, the door bell rang.

4. Σε ιστορία, για το σκηνικό χρησιμοποιούμε Past Continuous για την περιγραφή του σκηνικού και Past Simple για τη δράση. The birds were singing, the sun was shining and suddenly the black knight came and killed the dragon and rescued the princess.
