A Town in Greece-Nafplio

The location: It is situated on the Argolic Gulf in the northeast Peloponnese, about 87 miles from Athens. This peninsula forms a naturally protected bay.The water castle of Bourtzi meaning "tower", is a Venetian castle located in the middle of the harbour of Nafplio.

The Surroundings:The area surrounding Nafplio has been inhabited since ancient times, but few signs of this, except from for the walls of the Acronauplia, remain visible. Around the city can be found several sculptures and statues can be found . Nafplio is one of the most visited tourist cities in Peloponnese.Now there is a series of shops , restaurants and bars on its ancient streets. A few miles away from the city, you can find sandy beaches , ideal for swimming, sunbathing and relaxation.

The Town Old and New:Nafplio is a historical and colourful jewel. As centuries went by, the city was under the control of the Byzantine Empire, the Frank Empire, the Venetians and the Ottomans, before it become became the country’s first capital city in 1829.The Acronauplia has walls dating from pre-classical times.Nafplio is a port, with fishing and transport , but the primary source of the economy is tourism, with two beaches on the other side of the peninsula from the main body of the town.You can find many hotels too.
