LOUVRE

The Louvre is in Paris, France.   Ιt is located on the Right Bank of the Seine. The museum was built as the Louvre castle in the late 12th to 13th century under Philip 11. The LOUVRE is famous because it is the world's largest art museum and a historic monument in Paris.

The painting collection has more than 7,500 works from the 13th century to 1848. French and Northern European works are in the Richelieu wing and Cour Carrée; Spanish and Italian paintings are on the first floor of the Denon wing. The Greek, Etruscan, and Roman department displays pieces from the Mediterranean Basin dating from the Neolithic to the 6th century.

Famous works of art include the Venus de Milo, the Winged Victory and of course the Mona Lisa.
