“What if” in Pride and Prejudice: An Alternative Plot Twist

Today's activity is your chance to play with the plot of Pride and Prejudice and the characters’ choices! Form groups of four. We'll be looking at how the characters' relationships and the book's themes would change if a key moment in the story had been different.

Your mission is to write a 120-word alternate reality—a short story that flips a turning point on its head. For example, what if Mr. Wickham had been honest? What if Elizabeth had said 'yes' to Mr. Collins? What if... Mr. Darcy had fallen for someone else from the beginning?  What if... the Bennet family were not in danger of losing their home? You can pick one of the suggested ideas or come up with one story twist of your own. Then, please share your team's new version of the story on our e-me blog.
