LEARNING OBJECTIVES

(Hibernation)

- to discuss about the weather in winter as well as winter clothes - to learn important information about hibernation (χειμερία νάρκη)
-to name winter clothes through chants and kinesthetic/flashcard or digital games - to discover animals that hibernate in winter through storytelling
- to consolidate knowledge through storytelling - to practise the animals' names through card games
- to cultivate creativity and cutting skills though a worksheet related to the story we read - to develop their critical thinking and creativity through a worksheet

Winter (clothes)

Some of the first things we said about winter is that it is very very cold and sometimes it is snowy. Then I drew a simple snowman but he was very sad because he didn't have any clothes on... What do we wear when we're cold? So, then it was the students' turn to draw: a hat, a scarf, gloves and boots.

And we sang along:

"I'm a little snowman,

look at me,

these are by buttons, 1-2-3

these are  my eyes and this is my nose,

I wear a hat and scarf.

Bbbrrrr, it's cold!"

Below you can see different kinds of games we played having some real fun!

And finally we decided to dress up Froggy because he really wanted to go outside and play in the snow! (Watch the story here)

Hibernation

After we learned why and which animals hibernate through this video we played several games!

We also enjoyed and commented on the following story...

...and learned to sing and show with our bodies the following chant:

"Grizzly bear, oh grizzly bear is sleeping in a cave, (x2)

please be very quiet, very very quiet,

if you wake him, if you shake him

he gets very mad!!!"

Finally, we decided through a "cut and glue" worksheet whether certain animals sleep through the winter or not and coloured them!
