MYTH OF PROMETHEUS

When the gods made humans and animals, Zeus gave the Titans, Prometheus and Epimetheus, 
a basket of gifts to right shareing them ,so that life, of for all would become easier. 
Epimetheus,gave all the gifts of the basket to the animals and so, 
when Prometheus' turn came,there was nothing in the basket to shareing to with the people.

Then Prometheus decided to go up to Olympus to discuss the problem with Zeus. 
There, he saw that the gods used fire to cook and get warm.This is the most precious gift 
and it can change people's lives,Prometheus thought,asking Zeus to give him the fire.
Zeus,refused and so Prometheus stole the fire and shareding it to with the people.

When Zeus realized that Prometheus had stolen the fire,he asked Hephaestus to build 
iron chains and punished him, tying him to a rock on Mount Caucasus, where an eagle 
would go every day and bite him. Because Prometheus was immortal, every night, his wounds healed. 
Passing through the Caucasus, Hercules,killed the eagle and breaks broke the chains.
   
 

Midas touch

Midas was a king.. He was very rich and he loved gold. Once, he asked from god Dionysos a big favour...everything he touched to be a gold.

He touched his bread, his food, his knife... everything became gold. The same happened to his daughter. He touched her and she became a gold statue.

After that, king Midas was very sad and he decided to be the most fair king in the world who loved everybody except the gold.

 

PERSEPHONE AND HADES

Ones Once upon a time Hades,god of the Underworld,fell in love with beautiful Persephone who was the daughter of god Demeter.One day Persephone was picking flowers when the earth opened,Hades appeared and took her to the underworld.Demeter listened to the screams of Persephone and ran to find her.She was searching for 9 days and nights until Helios told her where she was.

Demeter asked Zeus to bring her back but he said no.Demeter was angry and started walking all over the world and she was crying.Wherever she was passing the earth was becoming dry and animals were died.Then Zeus descided to bring back Persephone and everything blossomed again.

From Since then Persephone lived 6 months with her mother and 6 months with Hades.When Persephone lives with Demeter, everything are is green and we have Spring and Summer and when Persephone lives with Hades all everything fades and we have Autumn and Winter.

 

Defkalionas and Pyrrha

One day Dias had a lot of nerves and he decided to did cause a flood. Only Defkalionas and his wife Pyrrha were saved from the flood.

They also made a box and asked Dias also gave  them a box. gived to people,but he tolded to them and He said that if they threw owed stones behind back of them, then people will must to  appeared  and that's exactly what happened. 

Finally Pyrrha  borened a child who was called Hellen. Ellina

Achilles

In Greek mythology , Achilles was a hero of the Trojan War , the greatest of all the Greek warriors. He was the son of the Nereid Thetis and Peleus , king of Phthia.

Some sources concur that he was killed near the end of the Trojan War by Paris, who shot him in the heel with an arrow. Achilles was invulnerable in all of his body except for his heel beacuse when his mother Thetis dipped him in the river as an infant, she held him by one of his heels.

The term <<Achilles heel>> has come to mean a point if of weakness, especially in someone or something with an otherwise strong constitution.

 

                                                                                                                        

 

 

Lernaean Hydra

The Lernaean Hyndra or Hyndra of Lerna, more often know simply as the Hyndra, is was a serpentine water monster in Greek and Roman mythology.

Its lair was the lake of Lerna in the Argolid, which was also the site of the myth Danaïdes,. Lerna was reputed to be an entrance to the Underworld, and older than Mycenaean Argos.

In the canonical Hyndra myth, the monster is killed by Herackes Hercules as the second of his Twelve Labours.

Melina Mercouri

Melina Mercouri she was born in on 18 October 1920 in Greece.She was a greek actress, singer and politician. She received on an Academy Award nomination and she won a Cannes Film Festival Award for her performance in the 1960 film Never on Sunday. Mercouri was also nominated for three Golden Globes and two BFTA Awards in her acting career. Mercouri was born in 1920 to a former of the Greek parliament, Stamatis Mercouris, and his wife, Eirini Lappa. When she completed her secondary education, she attended the National Theatre's Drama School, graduating in 1944. Mercouri died on 6 March 1994 at from lung cancer. She was survived by her husband, Jules Dassin. She had no children!

Hercules and Snakes

Hercules was the strongest hero of mythology. He had courage and he was very smart

When he was a baby, he killed the snakes that Hera sendt in his cradle.

Later, king Eurystheus asked him to do the twelve labours and he succeeded in all of them.

Johan Cruyff

Johan Cruyff was a Dutch professional football player and coach. He was born in on 25 April 1947  in Amsterdam and died 68 years later in on 24 March 2016.

At club level he started his career at Ajax, where he won 8 Eredivisie titles, 3 European Cups and one Intercontinental Cup. In 1973 he moved to Barcelona and was named European Footballer of the year. He had a son Jordi who also played football professionally.

In 1999, Cruyff was voted European Player of the century and came second behind Pele. He was chosen on the World Team of the 20th century in 1998, the FIFA World Cup Dream Team in 2002 and in 2004 was named in the FIFA 100 list of the world's greatest living players.

 

                                                           

 

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was one of the greatest composers of the world.He was born in 1756 in Salzburg of Austria.His parents were Leopold Mozart and Anna-Maria Mozart.His father was a composer too and he became his teacher.He was the youngest of 7 children.

Mozart at the age of 3 he could play the piano, at the age of 5 he composed and at the age of 6 he gave his first concert.Although he lived only 35 years he managed to compose over 600 works (symphonic,conserante,champer,operatic and choral music).Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart,Joseph Haydn and Ludwig van Beethoven are the so-called the First Viennese School.

Mozart died in 1791 in Vienna.
