Celebrating Excellence: Discover the Finalists of the European Digital Skills Awards 2024
The European Year of Skills has recently come to an end with the closing event “The European Year of Skills – what comes next?” on 30 April 2024. However, empowering individuals with essential digital competencies remains a top priority for the EU. The European Year of Skills emphasized the importance of equipping individuals with the right skills for quality jobs and aiding companies, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, in addressing skill shortages within the EU.
In a dynamic landscape of digital skills initiatives spanning across Europe, the European Digital Skills Awards celebrates the outstanding contributions of projects and organizations to the Digital Decade Targets.

The European Digital Skills Awards 2024 want to recognise and promote the outstanding work of organizations throughout Europe that have contributed to the advancement of digital skills through their projects, programmes and initiatives. From basic skills, such as using a computer or a tablet, to training ICT specialists in emerging technologies like AI, Blockchain and Data, there is a very lively crowd of organisations, trainers and teachers that are helping Europeans grow in digital. The objective of the Awards is to showcase those good practices and help everyone learn from one another.
A total of 267 applications were received across all the categories, representing the excellence of the thousands of experts and trainers that are currently helping Europeans acquire the necessary digital skills for everyday life and work. From private-public partnerships to grassroots endeavors, each of the finalist and winning projects will showcase innovative approaches to fostering digital competencies for adults and students in Europe.
The applications were presented in the following categories:

Cybersecurity Skills - projects that empower people, employees, and SME managers with essential cybersecurity skills

Digital Upskilling @ Work - digital upskilling and reskilling initiatives in various sectors, facilitation of job placement of ICT professionals of all levels

Digital Skills for Education - projects specifically aimed at digital upskilling for teachers and/or students and school administrations

Inclusion in the Digital world - digital training and media literacy initiatives for the elderly, unemployed, vulnerable groups, accessibility

Women in ICT Careers- projects specifically aimed at increasing the number of women ICT professionals or for the digital upskilling of women in the workforce or younger women in ICT
The objective of the Awards is to showcase those good practices and help everyone learn from one another. That is why the winners of EDSA23 will also have the chance to present their impactful initiatives and their progress.
