It’s game time! The 20th Mediterranean Games kick off today in Taranto, Italy! 

Until 3 September, thousands of athletes, volunteers and supporters from across the Mediterranean will come together to compete in 25+ sports across 20 venues. 

And there’s more happening beyond the competition!
 Through the EU-funded MED-Volunteers 2026 project, supported by ErasmusPlus Sport, many activities will focus on inclusive volunteering, giving young people opportunities to participate, connect and get involved.

At a difficult time for the region, the Games are also a chance to pause and celebrate what brings us closer: friendship, cooperation and solidarity.
