DAY 3 – Project-Based Learning
Activity 1: Renewable Energy for a Greener School (60 min)
By the end of the session, students will:
- Understand what renewable energy sources are
- Identify the main types of renewable energy
- Compare renewable energy policies in different European countries
- Actively participate through quizzes and creative group work
- Propose ideas for using renewable energy in their school
Warm-up & Brainstorming (10 minutes)
Activity title: “Where does our energy come from?”
- The teacher shows images of:
- Wind turbines
- Solar panels
- Hydropower plants
- Fossil fuel power stations
- Students answer:
- Which energy sources are renewable?
- Which ones cause pollution?
- Short brainstorming discussion.
Presentation from partners: Introduction to Renewable Energy (10 minutes)
A short presentation covering:
- What renewable energy is
- Main types of renewable energy:
- Solar
- Wind
- Hydropower
- Biomass
- Geothermal
- Benefits:
- Clean energy
- Reduced CO₂ emissions
- Sustainable future
Country Comparison: Energy Policies in Europe (10 minutes)

- Is coal a renewable energy source?
- True or False: Renewable energy helps reduce pollution.
Student Mini-Projects: “Renewable Energy in Our School” (15 minutes)
Students work in small international groups and choose one renewable energy source.
Each group creates a small project, such as:
- A poster promoting renewable energy at school
- A slogan or awareness message
- A sketch showing how renewable energy could be used in their school
Each group presents their idea briefly.
Reflection & Closing (5 minutes)
- Students share:
- One thing they learned
- One idea to make their school greener using renewable energy
- Closing message: “Renewable energy is not the future — it is the present.”
Field Observation Activity- “Wind Energy in Practice: From Observation to Understanding”
This activity helps students:
- understand how wind energy works in real-life conditions,
- connect renewable energy with local geography,
- reflect on the benefits and challenges of wind farms,
- develop environmental awareness, critical thinking, and sustainability values.
